Spacing
Row to row distance is 45cm. Thinning is done three weeks after sowing to maintain a plant-to-plant distance of 10 to 15 cm
Field Preparation
- Sandy loam to clay loam soils but thrive best on light loam soils.
- Avoid water logging conditions
- The land should be well prepared first by ploughing deep, followed by two cross harrowing
- Apply 15-20 ton of FYM or compost at the time of field preparation
Sowing method
Sow the seed on one side of ridge by hand dibbling under irrigation.

Weed control
- Manual Control of weed as per farmer’s practice
- Spray 1.2 lit pendimethylene 30 EC mixed in 150-200 lit of water per acre just after sowing or pre emergence application.
- Pre plant incorporation Spray 0.8 lit fluchloralin 45 EC mixed with 150-200 lit of water per hectare. After spraying mix the top soil by hoeing.
Water Management
